1). Grimsley students submit their writing, art, or other forms of creativity using a Google Form. This window:
2). Editing is done at the same time as submissions are taken to cause less stress on our editors. A preliminary layout of the physical copies will be made over Winter Break, while the art cover contest is created for Grimsley students to submit their designs of the cover for our physical and electronic magazines. The bookmark contest is also underway for people to submit their designs for the bookmarks in the physical copies. The Art Coordinators then choose a winner and give them a reward, which will be done and announced in early January.
3). We create a preliminary layout so that our supervisor can see all of the submissions and ensure that they are school-appropriate before they are published. This layout also helps us to gauge an expected page count for each magazine, how much color we’ll need, what kinds of packages we want to sell, and more information that will be presented to customers when they purchase their products from us and to the publishing house for their printing purposes.
4). As we wait for a green light, our layout coordinators begin their process of organizing the submissions into a cohesive book. Sometimes, it's arranged according to a particular theme, but the process is completely up to them. After our supervisor’s meeting, we adjust our final layout accordingly.
5) Then, we set-up our online payments to pre-order their copies of physical copies, eBooks, or both*. This year, that process will begin on January 14th and close on March 1st.
*Due to time constraints, magazines will only be available during this pre-ordering window. There will NOT be any late distributions!*
6) Our county publishing house receives the physical copies' layout and prints them according to our instructions about color, number of pages, and more. Simultaneously, we print and laminate the bookmarks ourselves, finalize all orders, and distribute to our customers.
Even though we hoped to have distribution events at school, the prevalence of the omicron variant has made us resistant in doing so. Therefore, our President and Vice President will hand-deliver all physical copies in mid to late-May, and the electronic copies will be emailed to their respective persons within the same time frame.
- Opens: July 15, 2021
- Closes: December 17, 2021 (Right before Winter Break begins)

- To reduce disease exposure, each President will have a list of individuals that they will prepare their orders for, and they will deliver to those individuals exclusively. While finalizing the orders, each President will wear their masks and a set of gloves. When interacting with customers, each President will be wearing at least one mask (if not two) and their gloves. After each exchange, they will use hand sanitizer.
- In turn, we ask that each customer wears their mask while in the presence of each President. Those who do not agree or abide to this mask-mandate will NOT receive a refund for their order, and it will be kept for Blue’s personal usage. Thank you for your cooperation in advance.
